Mercifully, that does mean that we're spared the constant obvious observations, babbling self-narration, and mid-tier wisecracks that so many games seem unable to avoid, but there are plenty of moments where Clarke's silence just feels wrong for a character who now has a voice. The issue is compounded later in the gameplay, however, because outside of a couple of brief interactions, Isaac barely speaks at all. Clarke isn't the chattiest of chaps, but that also makes sense - given the crew's military-esque hierarchy and Isaac's status as a contracted engineer, one wouldn't expect him to be constantly speaking out of turn. He feels far more like a part of the scene here than in the original, where he was a mere bystander, and there's a rapport with the other characters that helps build a sense of a congruent, logical world. The very start of the footage with the crew's approach towards the Ishimura shows why having Isaac speak makes sense. Dead Space remake first 18 minutes of gameplay But now, having seen the opening section of the remake as shared by EA and IGN, I have to say that I am a little worried.

It made sense, at least it would do assuming he wouldn't be constantly chattering to himself to shatter the tension, or helpfully solving puzzles for us seconds after we encounter them. One such decision - giving previously silent protagonist Isaac Clarke a voice, like in the sequels - was announced alongside the remake itself, with Gunner Wright reprising the role to help make Isaac feel more human. A fair bit changed and evolved over the course of the action horror game's two sequels and various spin-offs, so in returning to the USG Ishimura, the team will no doubt have had its work cut out deciding what things to retcon into the remake of the original, and what to leave in the airlock. Opinion Luke Albigés EA has shared footage of the Dead Space remake's opening, and while there are moments when Isaac's new voice acting works well, there are plenty of others where his performance leaves a lot to be desired.Remaking Dead Space - one of the best games on Game Pass for Ultimate subscribers thanks to its inclusion in the EA Play library - was never going to be easy.
